Research in Progress Meeting
The St George and Sutherland Clinical School Research in Progress Meetings, are a lunchtime research seminar open to researchers, students, UNSW and St George Hospital staff and any interested members of the public.
Our speakers are from the Australian National Phenome Centre, Murdoch University, and will speak on the below topics:
Prof Jeremy Nicholson – Phenomics in Personal and Public Healthcare
Professor Nicholson’s research focuses on the development and application of molecular, physiological and chemical analysis in the investigation and treatment of human disease. His publications include the role of microbiome-host interactions in personalised healthcare and disease risks for diabetes, autism and cancer.
Professor Elaine Holmes – Microbial Influences on Human Metabolism and Disease
Professor Holmes' research focuses on applying metabolic profiling and computational modelling of biofluids and tissues to understand pathological and physiological disease processes. She co-developed the concept of the metabolome-wide association study (MWAS) and is currently driving new methods for the integration of metabonomic data with proteomic and transcriptomic data to gain a holistic overview of disease process.
